Ricciardo in no rush to secure 2019 seat

Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo has stated that he is in no rush to secure a seat for the 2019 season, and would be happy waiting until the summer break to do so.

Traditionally, August is the time in which the majority of drivers sign contracts for the following year if they are on the final year of their contract, and Ricciardo is comfortable to wait until this time.

I don’t feel like I need to sign anything soon,” the Australian said to The Paddock Magazine.

I also want to see what happens with the team and with the other teams as well.

“So we’ll see how the year takes place… I know that at some point, other teams will want to know my decision, but for me, for my mind, it does not matter right now.

“It could be after the summer as well… when I know what is going to happen next year, I’ll be happy to sign something.

Multiple options have been discussed amongst fans regarding Ricciardo’s future, with the most apparent theory being that he could replace Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari.

As well as his current team, Red Bull, Mercedes has shown potential interest in the Australian for 2019, as they have stated that Ricciardo is on their shortlist, if they decide to look for a driver out of their programme.
