Alonso open to retuning to F1 for ‘winning car’

Two-time Formula 1 World Champion Fernando Alonso has said that he is “open” to an F1 return, but only if he could drive a championship-winning car.

The Spaniard claimed his second Le Mans title last weekend, and has confirmed that he will not be racing in IndyCar or WEC next season. Despite this, he has not given up with F1.

“In the future I am open to interesting proposals,” Alonso said to AS.

“If I decide to return to Formula 1, it is only if there is a real possibility of winning the World Championship.

“I am not interested in projects that start from scratch, I want a winning car immediately.

“If Formula 1 appears again in an attractive way, I have no doubt: I would go back.“
